Inspire a Child -EIGHT TO CREATE. We will profile one Arts to Grow student for EIGHT WEEKS through the end of the year to highlight how arts education can impact kids in low – income schools. In our first week we raised $290 dollars from 9 donors! And with your support, we can help inspire more young people by expanding our arts education programs next year.
Can you help today? NOW WE NEED JUST 66 SUPPORTERS TO GIVE JUST $20 EACH, so we can meet our year-end fundraising goal and continue our Theater Workshop Program for 3rd – 4th graders at a low income school in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
This is Catherine. A feisty and full of life “character actress,” Catherine began her theatre training in small parts and worked her way up to starring roles. In June she played a main character in the musical, Optimistic Orphan. She began with fearlessness on the stage, and now has the vocabulary and skills to confidently approach a role. When faced with a challenge during rehearsal or performance anxiety, Catherine has learned that she can overcome these obstacles by trusting her instincts and utilizing her theatre education. Catherine graduated IS 171 in June 2011 and is now attending the specialized New York public high school, Talented Unlimited..
As many of our supporters know, Arts to Grow plays a vital role in shaping the educational outcomes of at-risk youth. During November/December we want to raise $1,500 in online contributions to continue our theater workshop for 40 underserved 3rd – 4th graders at Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation’s/PS 7 After School program in Brooklyn.
Currently, we have over 50 schools on our waiting list for dance, theater, music & visual arts programs. These programs are always NO COST to students.
DONATE NOW to support kids like Catherine, and you will play a vital role in boosting student achievement and self-confidence through creative expression. THANK YOU for changing the life of a child!
